段清欢命手下调查落水原因，发现竹筏的绳子被人割开了。邢睿之若有心事地回到斋舍，岳华生同样闷闷不乐的样子。宋连禹知道邢睿之本就不自信也胆小怕事，劝他不要在乎别人的目光，相信自己的实力，并告诉邢睿之自己已经为他借来了焦尾琴，邢睿之感激万分。几日后，音乐课的演出开始，书院夫子们都收到邀请旁听，当天蕙心学堂的学生们也前来观看表演。但是在比赛开始不久，邢睿之的琴弦就突然断了，台下观众嘲笑声不断，这让好不容易鼓起的勇气和多日来的努力都白费了，邢睿之难过得放弃了演出，逃离了现场， 邢睿之难过得不去上课跑回了家中，而崔楚奕和宋连禹也开始相互置气。当听说邢睿之离开书院后，宋连禹抓着崔楚奕前往邢睿之家里去登门道歉。
