2020年初冬，在盛世集团旗下的一所酒店里，举办了盛世和顾阑珊的结婚周年宴会。在看似恩爱的面具下，掩藏着两人伤痕累累的心。盛世从高中开始，就喜欢上了顾阑珊，而顾阑珊却在大学喜欢上了韩城池。自信骄傲的盛世不接受这个事实，在一次聚会上，故意将别人下了药的酒让顾阑珊喝下，顺理成章让顾阑珊成为了他的女人。随后又和顾阑珊的养母谈了一个合适的聘金，让顾阑珊嫁她为妻。顾阑珊得知了盛世的一切手段，认为他背叛了两人的友情，结婚当天在弟弟的带领下试图逃婚，没想到弟弟车祸成为植物人。面对抢救弟弟高昂的医药费，顾阑珊求盛世帮忙，盛世却以救她弟弟为筹码要挟她立刻和他领证。那时的他认为，爱就是拥有。盛世如愿以偿，顾阑珊心死如灰。两个不懂爱的人走进婚姻，注定不幸。一个想靠近，一个想逃离，总让对方伤痕累累。最终盛世终于明白，爱，不是拥有，而是放手让对方自由。婚姻走向灭亡，两人却宛如新生，逐渐懂得了如何去爱。
