　　得知钱牧庸的归来，报仇心切的秦九外出刺探情况，回来却发现阿彩已死，两个孩子也不知去向。秦九认定是“德记行”所为，为了寻找两个孩子的下落，秦九追随吴峻来到厦门却一无所得。找寻小格格的唯一线索便是袭月留下的音乐盒。功夫不负有心人，在苦苦寻觅了十八年后，顺着熟悉的“平安夜”的曲声，秦九终于在一群流浪儿中见到了与袭月相貌酷似的小格格——缨儿。秦九向缨儿说出了她的身世，却被缨儿看作是骗子而百般捉弄，忠心耿耿的秦九无怨无悔。钱牧庸宣称当初献给老佛爷的龙头被调了包，并由日本人周易带到了厦门，他下令要文物局长赵鲁和警察局长朱魁调查此事。缨儿平日以做个小把戏骗人钱为主，一次行骗正遇上奉命追捕周易的侦缉队长花逢春。为了救缨儿，秦九打开了将周易与缨儿铐在一起的手铐，使周易逃走，致使花逢春误以为秦九和缨儿是周易的同党。
